50th Anniversary Celebration Of The Fair Employment And Housing Act (FEHA)


2009 Civil Rights Year An Invitation to Collaborate!

The California Department of Fair Employment and Housing is celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA) on January 15, 2009. The City of Sacramento in conjunction with Several State Departments, Cities, private organizations, and the U. S. Department of Justice, will be on hand with up-to-the-minute information and education as a celebration of civil rights for people with disabilities. This is a free Seminar and is in conjunction with Martin Luther King Birthday.

The speakers for this event are:

  • Rosario Marin, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's Cabinet Secretary, State and Consumer Services Agency
  • Phyllis Cheng, Director, Department of Fair Employment and Housing
  • Sally Conway, Director of Americans with Disabilities Act Technical Assistance and Mediation Programs with the Civil Rights Division of the U. S. Department of Justice

This seminar will be an interactive celebration with Question and Answer Panels from both the Department of Justice and the Department of Fair Employment and Housing. Other topics include the differences between the ADA and ADAA 2008, and Title II (State and Local government requirements) and the role of an ADA Coordinator.
