California Youth Leadership Forum (YLF)

YLF is a self-advocacy and leadership development program for students with disabilities who are juniors or seniors in high school. The 2018 program is scheduled for July 15-20 at California State University, Sacramento (pending funding availability).

Students stay overnight in college dorms for the college experience. During the program, students learn about employment resources, additional educational opportunities, independence and assistive technology. This video shows the activities of the week.

Students also interact with other students their own age including alumni staff and learn from other people with disabilities living independently and working in various careers.

The successful California program began in 1992 and has been replicated as a model across the country by 30 states.
