California Youth Leadership Forum (YLF)
Youth Leadership Forum for Students with Disabilities
YLF is a four day self-advocacy and leadership development program for students with disabilities who are juniors or seniors in high school. Students stay overnight in college dorms for the college experience. During the program, students learn about employment resources, additional educational opportunities, independence and assistive technology. Students also interact with other students their own age including alumni staff and have networking opportunities with other people with disabilities in various professions.
This year's event will be held August 1-4, 2017 at California State University, Sacramento (pending funding availability).
Applications must be received by March 30, 2017.
Unlike previous years, one of the eligibility requirements for this year is to be a Department of Rehabilitation consumer before you become a delegate of YLF. If you are not a current consumer, more information is provided in the YLF Application Instructions document.

Youth Leadership Forum Staff
YLF has several onsite staff positions available, with the priority given to YLF alumni. If you are interested in applying to serve as a volunteer, or paid onsite staff during YLF week, please see the application and documents in the section below and note the background check requirement. STAFF APPLICATIONS ARE DUE FRIDAY, MARCH 31ST.
NEW BACKGROUND CHECK REQUIREMENT FOR ON-SITE STAFF: Your work as on-site staff is contingent on passing a background check. Selected staff will be required to complete and pass an FBI and DOJ background check, including a background check on the state and national sex offender registry. You are required to submit a Live Scan for an FBI and DOJ background check as part of the YLF event through a third-party vendor. If you are unable to pass the background check, you are disqualified from working as on-site staff and attending the YLF event. As part of the new background check requirements, you must provide us with either your California Driver's License or Identification Card Number.
ON-SITE STAFF APPLICANTS WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF THEIR BACKGROUND CHECKS.
