  1. In the Social Security Red Book, check the index to find the pages that explain Impairment Related Work Expenses.
    Make a list of items or services that you pay for out of pocket and need in order to work and add up the amount of your IRWE costs.

  2. Locate the form SSA-821-BK on the Social Security website to see what information is required for submitting a subsidy or special condition.
