Ticket to Work (TTW) Program

The Ticket to Work (TTW) Program is one way you can access services from the California Department of Rehabilitation (DOR). If you are between the ages of 18 and 64 and receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) due to a disability, you may be eligible to participate in the TTW Program and receive services through DOR.
As a participant, you have the option to assign your Ticket either to an Employment Network (EN) or to a State Vocational Rehabilitation agency such as DOR. If you choose to use your Ticket with DOR and are found eligible for services, you will work with a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor to create an employment goal and develop an Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE). Your IPE will outline the specific steps and support needed to reach your goal, which may include training, certification programs, supplies, or interview clothing. These services may be funded by DOR if they are necessary for employment and are authorized under program guidelines.
Many individuals choose to start with DOR to receive comprehensive, personalized employment services. After your DOR case is successfully closed, you have the option to assign your Ticket to an EN for ongoing post-employment support and job retention services.
What if I don’t want to use my Ticket at DOR?
If DOR services do not meet your needs, you may choose to assign your Ticket directly to an EN. A searchable directory of ENs is available on the TTW Program Find Help Page.
Are there any other benefits to using my Ticket?
There are significant advantages to having your Ticket assigned. While your Ticket is considered "In-Use" with DOR or an EN, and you are making Timely Progress toward employment, you are protected from Medical Continuing Disability Reviews by the Social Security Administration (SSA).
The TTW Program also works alongside other Social Security work incentives, helping you explore employment opportunities while maintaining access to your benefits. For more information about these work incentives, refer to the SSA Red Book.
