DOR is committed to helping interested individuals who are seeking to become small business owners or entrepreneurs in exploring and implementing innovative strategies to start, run, and grow a business.

Types of Services

DOR is committed to helping you discover how to start, run, and grow a proposed small business, by providing the following:

  • Support in developing a viable business concept; and then preparing a proposed small business summary or small business plan.
  • Short, focused training to update skills or required certifications.
  • Technical assistance to learn or improve your financial literary and money management skills, or other business skills.
  • QuickBooks software or other training to develop financial projections of the income and expenses and a profit and loss statement.
  • Identification and provision of accommodations and supports during business startup (e.g., Small Business Consultant or Small Business Mentor).
  • Referral and information about resources for ongoing services and supports after DOR services end.
  • Funding for initial business license application fees.
  • Startup goods/inventory for first 6 months of business operation.
